My getting started in warhammer- for other noobies

Things I found out, figured out when playing around the last 2 days.

1. FIguring out which class did what . WAR Class Portal | Ten Ton Hammer was the best for me personally. As it also gave info on how the class did in pve, solo, RVR (pvp). For each "side" there are three races. And in each race you can expect some sort of a tank, healer, hybrid.

Classes that stood out for me.

Black Orc - super HP uber Tank. Weak against ranged, but supposedly has enough juice to make it in time to the ranged and clobber.

Squig Herder - Like a Hunter.

Marauder - supposedly crazy up close DPS

Disciple of Khaine - healer that can also take damage. a survivor.

Witch Elf - this would be the equiv of a Rogue.

2. Destruction is like Horde. Order is like Alliance. There are always going to be wow comparisons. Classy Gamer: Does Warhammer Online really look like WoW? was interesting, i guess they did look a bit different. There is only so much away you can go with the fantasy dwarf orc world.

Anyhow DESTRUCTION (trolls and orcs and dark elves like wow Horde) is what side the Vindy's are playing on. The Servername is usually in Vent.

Ah yes, when you start playing they're going to do da orc troll, me scorbu talk.

3.When you get in the game. The quest locators aren't' too bad. THey do books above heads to indicate quest progress and availability. In the top right minimap you can see some of that. you have to hit m to see the larger map to see further away quest givers, and quest markers. They draw circles around where you can fulfill your quest. which is useful. A circle around an area where npc x might be. I wish they had the conan style deal where in the minimap you had arrows as to which direction, without going to the main map. There are already addons from Curse-gaming so sure there will be some sort of a helper deal.

4. For the few levels I played, there was one trainer for all classes. you just go up and have about a new thing to train every level. an ability.

5. second to Lastly public quests. That was kind of odd, but you see in big letters something about a public quest, and then on top right you see what needs to be done, like kill x number of such. From the ones I saw, they usually had a pattern of kill 30 of these, kill 15 of these, now kill some big bosses. These were in stages. You got points for killing these things, and at the end when you've finished the stages the points add up, based upon that you get loot. also you get points you can spend at a special vendor with those points you earned. So worth joining in. you don't have to be grouped with anyone.

6. Then for the RVR I tried (i only played about 5 hours over 2 days). RVR is like group PVP. In the starter cities, you capture flags at buildings, get points for that and probably killing. don't be afraid of it. course if you end up with a vindy you're probably into it. you can join just fine solo, they'll put you into a party. i think that we'll excel if we use teamwork, vent etc. seems like destruction is always winning. but the tide will even out prob.

Whelp if you haven't played before, maybe this'll help you get some bearings.
