Vent whine

I bought a new USB headse, and it works great in games, the sound quality is fine, etc... But as soon as i login to a sever with Ventrillo i get this high-pitched whine. I can hear and speak to people fine, but the whole time i'm in the server, whatever channel i'm in, whenther i'm using the mic or not, i get this noise.

Any sugestions for things i can check?
