Tom Clancy hasnt made any games that have really impressed me but they are a well known/respected game developer.
The new game is called EndWar and has a WWIII plot. Supposedly, online is going to support battles with hundreds of people. While Tom Clancy"s devs haven't outright said so, IGN has hinted that it is in fact "massively multiplayer".
"A Whole New Kind of Massive: EndWar will be an online multiplayer experience unlike anything you’ve ever encountered. 16 player matchups? Try hundreds. 30 minute battles? Try persistent matchups lasting for months at a time. This isn’t a skirmish, it’s World War III. "
"As for what kind of strategy game--turn-based, real time, or other--it's still unknown. However, gamers can expect to be in control of large armies and take their battle plans online, possibly in massively multiplayer combat, according to Serge Hascoet, chief creative officer at Ubisoft.
"A strategy game like no other, EndWar will allow gamers to lead their own armies against hundreds of others online in real global locations on the massive battlefields of World War III," said Hascoet (emphasis added). "

EDIT: They are also saying RTS so it also may be an MMORTS, still....that would be amazing.
