| Well i posted a while ago about this, but i wanted to post an update, and my plans for it all. I'm rediculously excited for this.
Well as you all should know, Star wars galaxies was once an amazing game. It truely was the best MMO ever created, with not just a grind based combat platform but an entire world. This won game of the year several years running, but eventually, the greed of SOE got to the game and changed. WoW was released, and seeing the influx of people subbing to that, SOE tried to change the game to be more like wow, and killed it. They cheesed combat, got rid of crafting and basically the economy, and narrowed the 33 professions down to an iconic 9. The emulator is bringing the old game back, before any of the changes, and is nearing completion.
Below are the features and plans for the game we will be playing, the old one.
For those of you who dont know, some of the features:
-The best part: the world. You dont just have to run raids or grind the entire time. It was a real world, you can just sit in a cantina and talk, run some events out of your PA hall, build and design your house, ect.
-The economy: This was soo unique and really amazing to me. The ENTIRE economy is PLAYER BASED. What does this mean? The only way to get gear is NOT from high level instances or raids. Crafters made everything from armor, weapons, housing, food, medicine, ect. This doesnt rob the loot whores tho, because for rare/good weapons, crafters might need some components from caves or hard to get areas.
-The crafting:The most amazing crafting system to date! Lets say your a weaponsmith, and you wanted to make a pistol. First you need to survey the ground and find a good mineral deposit for each resource needed (you will prolly need quite a few different metals for the gun, chemicals for the firing). Then when you find a good spot, you need to harvest. You can drop a harvester (giant machine that diggs) and it will pull the minerals out of the ground. Then when you have all your goods, you go into crafting. You add all the minerals, and components (like grip, barrel, ect). You then get to experiment and name your gun, and alas! its done! Higher quality materials used=better stuff. There are so many crafting to, artisan being the broad one, and leading into architect, droid engineer, weaponsmith, armorsmith, and shipwright.
-The professions: 32 freaking professions, ranging from fencer all the way to droid engineer and politician. Anything you could think of was in this game in some way...Want to tame animals? creature handler is for you. Dancin it up with the social life? try dancer or musician!
-The skill system: There are amazing trees for every profession, and you DO NOT have to stick to one profession. You are given 250 skill points, and each box in your skill tree takes skill points to learn. Basically, you can be a jack of all trades or a master of few. It was amazing to see the diversity of the player base. No more cookie cutter groups!
-The combat: This game had some amazing combat due in large to its vast amount of professions and skills. There were hundreds of different combat moves, each doing their own thing or state. It was impossible to truely master combat, which was amazing!
-Player Guilds and Player Cities and Player Faction Bases: Guilds could make their own cities, with the houses of all the members in it, shutleports, banks, cloning facilities, cantinas, hospitals...you name it! We will have our own Vindicator City!
-Vendors and Shops: An AMAZING thing for crafters! You can set up a NPC vendor in a shop or your house, and have it sell stuff for you! this makes buying a whole lot easier with the large amount of malls throughout the galaxy!
-Endless exploration: There are over 12 planets, each so big its impossible to know the entire planet. I spent like 2 years of my life on naboo and still havent seen it all!
-PVP! (Kurz) The PVP in this game is truely wonderful, being between the rebels and imperials. In addition to the crazy pvp in the cities, PVP is usually brought home with Player Faction Bases! You can set up your own base (for example an imp base) and it will spawn its own NPC defenders (storm troopers, ATSTs, ect) that will walk around and protect it. Also, you can set up turrets, mines, and everything! Back when i was the #1 pvper on my server me and my Imperial buddies completely took over a huge island on naboo S of keren, and LOADED it with faction bases. The entire island was crawling with storm troopers, and every time the puny rebels attempted a water assault, they were freaking owned! Turreting swimming rebels ftw.
I'll keep adding more.
Best of all, this emulator will be free to get, and free to play. Day1 of the release i will begin my way to master architect and build us a guildhall/city with the help of our members. We will be well known and feared in this game, as this is a community driven game, and guilds instantly have reps.
I wanna know who is in, or if i can answer any of your questions here |
