I'm sure I forgot stuff, but here's some of the basics. Feel free to add:
-Coordinated jumps. You want to jump as a group. So basically, everyone aligns with the point you're jumping to and the gang/squad/fleet leader gives the jump order. What this does is allows everyone to jump as a group, since you're all ready to jump when the order's given. Warping in by your lonesome or having a group warp in piecemeal = very bad
-Damage Types: eve.grismar.net has a good guide on damage types. Basically, there's 4 types(EM, Thermal, Kinetic and Explosive). EM and Thermal are better against shields, Kinetic and Explosive are better against armor. In PVP, however, this kinda gets tossed out the window since players can put hardeners on their ships and protect against whatever they feel they need. So, I guess what I'm saying here is you as a player need to be able to deal and protect against as many damage types as possible, or at the very least, tailor your ship to your opponents' preferred weapon/defenses.
-Engaging: Always engage the enemy on your terms. A straight up 1v1 fight, while fun, means you have at least a 50% chance of losing your ship. Plus, you don't know if they have friends lurking nearby in case they start to lose. In other words, if the odds are even slightly against you, RUN.
-Bookmarking in the middle of nowhere: When retreating, you NEVER want to be near a space lane or any kind of landmark. So what you do is, while you're warping to your location, set a bookmark. Go into People and Places, under the Places tab, you should be able to create a bookmark. Do this while warping, and voila! A bookmark in the middle of nowhere. When you need to retreat, warp to that bookmark; that way they can't hunt you down at a space station/planet/moon/whatever.
I think we need stuff on ECM, propulsion jamming and I'm sure I missed other stuff.
