| If we're going to do territories, maybe we should do a different technique other than just jump to a continent and fight.
Think of a honeycomb as zones.
We could have four zones: Friendly safe, friendly contested, enemy contested, enemy safe. Any territories that are touching the enemy's territory are contested combat zones. Any territories not touching any enemy zones are safe zones where the enemy can not attack you.
There are many possibilities of classes that could go into an enemy's safe zone and do recon. The kicker is, while in an enemy's safe zone, you CAN NOT shoot them, but they can shoot you. Only sabotage is allowed in an enemy's safe zone (boomers, mines, etc). We could have a cloaker suit which can't carry a pistol to achieve this goal.
This would give cloakers a role to play, while the main force can still battle each other.
The way friendly and enemy contested zones basically work is that you can not drop onto the enemy contested zone, only yours. That way, it'll avoid getting an assful of troops all of a sudden dropping from the skies. SpecOps would still be possible by driving around the base or looping around the zone's border to get a surprise attack.
The territories themselves can either hold one base (which would be easier and allow better 'battle lines') or a collection of bases. There can also be 'neutral' territories that are always contested and have an objective that could be worth fighting over.
Just throwing ideas up into the air. |
