Ok, we seem to be moving away from the WH40k base, or at least far enough to avoid having to pay Games Workshop silly money for the licence. So, being the anal-retentive word monkey that i am, i'm thinking what setting DO we want? Is it going to be the standard old Humans-and-2+-alien-races-meet-up-and-decide-to-have-a-war? A civil war between human factions with a mysterious but dormant/benevolent/reclusive/extinct alien presence? Something else entirely that i can't think of? An MMO doesn't need - in fact it's best if it doesn't have - too complete a script, and Gamers are a fairly conservative bunch in some ways, so picking one from the list should do.

We DO need come up with a few factions though, and some resources to contest. Just territory? alien relics? some miraculous fuel or metal? a new and strangly addictive kind of space-cheese? (perhaps Giant Space Goat's Cheese?) again, we can afford to borrow liberally from the standard Sci Fi songbook.

This may seem largely irrelevant to most of you, especially at this stage, but it's my stock-in-trade. If anyone has ideas, post them.

"EVE Online... developers themselves admit 'women don't want to be spaceships'. I don't know about you but i don't think i could love a woman who didn't, just a little bit, somewhere deep down, want to be a spaceship."
