As i'm sure many of you have heard, this project has been a long time in the making and has finally come into fruition. It started as the "100$ laptop project" with the goal to provide underprivileged children computers with fully functioning internet and resources beyond what they are offered in school.
Now the project is completed (wound up costing 188$ a computer) and these machines are simply amazing.
Heres some of the highlights:
-Amazing transformer screen with high-gloss and regular settings, able to fold back
-640X480 integrated video camera
-Fully linux based OS called "sugar"
-Durable design manufactured to work at high/cold temperatures and in intense conditions
-Tons of input/output ports
-Fully open source
-They teamed up with T-mobile to provide worldwide internet service with these bad boys.
Really something amazing...the fact that we can do this for them is amazing. You get full credentials on the child who gets your computer including email and video chat information.
Although this is not something you guys are used to me asking, take a look at it, my brother and myself both donated two last night. Its quite cool.
