| How Spore supports the idea that there are no aliens |

| I want to believe that there are aliens out there, but logically, I simply cant back it up, and Spore doesnt help me to believe.
Why dont I believe in them?
First: We detect no non natural radiation on Earth; yes we havent surveyed every star, SETI is trying but after years of looking they have found nothing. Lets say that any advanced world would eventually use electromagnetic radiation for some purpose; that radiation would eventually strike other worlds, our radiation bubble for tv alone has been expanding since the 30s, radio since the late 1900s, thats over 100 light years (the nearest star is 4.3 light years away). If there are other worlds out there in the galaxy, we should be awash with radio signals by now.
Second: Spore shows us quite well, when you reach the space stage you run all over the system and galaxy quickly, because the ships have broken the light barrier. If the light barrier is able to be broken (current Science says that it cant, but theres still a lot that Science cant explain) then we should see alien craft everywhere (ok, UFOs, sure). Even if you cant break the light barrier sleeper or generation ships should be travelling at high speeds around the galaxy; for our short lifespans 100 years is a long time; for aliens, who knows how long they would be able to live for, especially with advanced medicine.
Third: We have a hospitable world with lots of resources, its a good target for either military takeover or trade.
Fourth: We dont see stars dissapearing. Highly advanced civilisations are likely to be able to utilise all the energy given out by a star; we should be able to spot stars winking out as they construct Dyson spheres about them. |
