It was touched on in the Siege one but what really got my attention was both the note of a bit of how diplomacy will work (we used a similiar system in one of my muds) and further verifying that your holdings become vulnerable to attack when you lay siege to someone else.
I feel thats critical difference from games such as shadowbane where you where not vulnerable to counterattack when you where under siege. It may lead to unexpected allies (enemy of my enemy) and many more strategies not previously seen.
Also the fact that war status is not instant is another nice touch. This will make internal betrayals alot harder like the one Silent Tribe suffered in shadowbane (they summoned the enemy into thier city which was behind our scout points for invasion forces and broke allegiance just before the attack. We survived and had a party in thier cities that evening tearing down everything they had build to date.)
