I wasn't sure how many people did or didn't know about this, but it's a nice feature that is turned off by default.
If you go into your game options you can toggle Elective Mode on and off. With it on, you can switch abilities around on your bars, including abilities from the same school. So you can have 2 primaries and 2 defensive. Or 3 secondaries and an conjuration.
